Saint Michel  Bay in Normandy (France)

Taken from the Abbaye at 70 m

Points you see on the sand are walkers but not dusts on sensor :D

You'll notice that the grains of sand are well reproduced by film on this great bay at low tide :)

I've got the chance of buying an immaculate silver M7 but I'm not sure I want a camera with electric components that could be a door stop in 20 years time

It was not until I joined this forum that I began to worry about the electronics of my M7; I say worry but mean became aware of an electronic issue. I have not had any issues or have I seen any recent threads that give any cause for concern. I think this is becoming an urban myth.

I'm not worried it's just in years to come will there be people that can repair them my M4-2 and M4p are 30+ years old and can be repaired no problem, my friend wanted to give me an M7 and cash for my M4p 70 year anniversary a few years ago that's when I thought about the electrics

I can see Gary's point of view.

I also think there is a different mindset to owning a digital camera nowadays where it is bought knowing it will only be used for a year or two or until the next upgrade comes out. The thought of having the electronics in a digital camera fixed in 30 years or so is not even considered at purchase.

Mate, you know you doesn't have to convince me. I'm already for film, hands down. If not, I wouldn't be always using my Barnack (and sometimes my Pentax).

Dgc, what I fear is that all these batteries , specially for my two digit. M cameras (in principle over 10 years , legal duration regulation)  will no longer be sold by Leica and generic manufacturers will also not produce more such batteries. The example is the DMR for R8 and R9.

What to do then with cameras without batteries ?

We always find batteries A3 and A4 or CR1 for M7

A digital camera quickly outdated in a few years, not the case with analogue

it becomes "disposable" unfortunately  !

Very nice your last picture nice balance of light and shadow :)

I have just rediscovered a long-forgotten film camera in the loft that I can add to the collection again!  I can't remember that last time I used this Yashica T5, it must be well over 10 years ago, fortunately I had removed the battery before I put it away.  New battery installed and a roll of HP5 and it seems to be working perfectly.

For those who may remember, these were made famous by the infamous Terry Richardson.

A nice place to visit and breathe the sea air , but be careful with high tide (a few died from drowning)
it moves very fast, the locals talk about the speed of a galloping horse !

My daughter in her first few seconds of life is handed by the midwife to my elated wife Michelle.

A picture taken 25 years ago on a Leica M6 with a 35mm Summilux lens. The film is TRI-X which was pushed to ISO 800 and as the room was dimly lit the lens was wide open at F1.4.

Lovely picture

I like the grain much

Well framing Paul
