gbealnz Posted January 28, 2016 Share #10281 Â Posted January 28, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Me too, I know we are comparing film/digital, and won't get into that, but agreed, the M240 shot to me is "cleaner". The HP5 shows grain, as it should of course, but this is really the only difference to me. As Chris said, both are lovely. Gary

Doc Henry Posted January 28, 2016 Author Share #10282  Posted January 28, 2016 (edited) Back to Lacock Abbey, same roll of HP5+. M7 & 35mm Summaron. As a comparison, taken the same afternoon with M240, albeit with a 50mm lens (Summilux-M ASPH)  Preference? For the beauty of the real "stone" and its component grains of sand , film reproduces more true because of these silver grains : wall at right , column at left and floor. versus too "smoothed" * recognizable immediately in digit. The two photos are nice from a general point of view at "first sight" but if we look at the details and we are demanding and critical , that is better in film.  Thanks for sharing this useful comparison Keith Best Henry * " smoothing pixels " by software of the cam. Remember my comparison of fog with the same remark "microdroplets of water" or snow (ice crystals) Edited January 28, 2016 by Doc Henry

Guest JMF Posted January 28, 2016 Share #10284  Posted January 28, 2016 12 Thank you again for your time...  Adam,  thanks for sharing your set, it is great fun to peep and choose !  My fave is No 1 for its sky texture, colors, composition and contrast , it really pops off the screen ! No 11 comes second, I'd like it even more if graded a bit darker.  Brilliant colors and nice water texture (due to a shorter exposure time I guess) on No 9 yet the Ferry boat  bugs me and the horizon level tips a bit to the right if I may add !  Great serie altogether,  Cheers JM, still resisting the SWC/M temptation to this day ... M7 & 35mm Summaron.  As a comparison, taken the same afternoon with M240, albeit with a 50mm lens (Summilux-M ASPH) Preference?   A little tricky to compare because of the different focal lengths and, I think, point of focus (the 50mm photograph appears to be focussed on the far door) but I prefer the first. Partly for the extra context provided by the 35mm focal length but also because it has more 'bite' and detail (especially in the floor).

Guest Posted January 29, 2016 Share #10299 Â Posted January 29, 2016 Rapperswil by -Ric Capucho- Â Â More XP2. And more ducks. Â Quack. Â Adam, a big thank you for the steer on Cinestill, and I've watched a few Youtube videos and like what I see. Â I think I've found a local place where I can buy Cinestill 800T... But this would only work with the M6 as I don't think the recanisters have a DX coding on the case, so the T2 (my street weapon of choise) would likely default to ISO 100. Â Someone somewhere sells DX coding stickers, but can't remember if ISO 800 is one of the options. Maybe a combination of an ISO 400 sticker plus the exp comp would do the trick. Â Hmm. Best thing to do is to buy and try... Â Ric
