Went to a local state park this weekend because the leaves are turning fast and soon will be all on the ground instead of on the trees. The second shot is of my truck (almost 200,000 miles on it) using Fuji Sensia 400 slide film cross-processed; taken with my wife's superheadz camera. (a plastic thing)

This is lovely. These old statues are often wonderful. The best are in the west portal at Chartres - a milestone of western civilization.

Question : Which you prefer ?

First picture in Kodak TX400 , with no conversion color Kodak Portra 160  > b&w

My opinion : with b&w, we see better the different plans of the hills and of the vegetation in the fog :)

...and no dust on the sensor :D...and no stress

Hi Henry - well, they both look a little washed out to me.  Shooting an expansive scene directly (or nearly directly) into the sunlight will result in lower contrast and saturation - also sharpness; all which are really needed when trying to make a nice landscape with a small 35mm negative.

Having said this, if I had to choose, it would be the color version as (IMO) there isn't enough contrast in the scene, or dominant composition, to make the B&W render effectively.

Interesting remark Adam..... but I answer you : that's what I see

The question is : if  it's "washed out", must we take pictures or not against the light, sun in front ...

In any case I do not think that the sensor can reproduce this atmosphere

I let our friends here to give us their views :)

In any case, thank you Adam for having made your choice.

Well, I wouldn't have taken the photo at all, as while it is nice it wouldn't mean anything to me; unless there was something sentimental about the place.  I could, however, imagine a late afternoon or early evening front-lit scene with the warm light pouring over the hill tops, illuminating the green grass and presenting wonderful depth and contrast in the hills.  I would very much like to take that photo.  :)

Adam, but since I'm taking pictures, I've always liked contre-jour (CJ) ... big dilemma :D

In France they always say : "stubborn as a Breton" (from Brittany)  :)

For you , cows in CJ

in any case the KP 160 supports CJ
It is more difficult to have good pictures , but in CJ , everything is in relief :)
I will not do this kind of pictures with my M9 because I know it will be underexposed
