This thread is nice because it is has a fast rhythm, its a bit breathless, you look away a time, zack, six ore ten pages more, and it goes through every -(any) -where and every- (any)-thing.

It's what we call a dynamic thread :D

The best bottle of French wine I ever had was in a small restaurant in Wissant the night before we caught the ferry home a very enjoyable night Edited by gsgary

You know I tell my patients need to drink a glass of red wine at each meal per day to prevent Alzheimer's disease:)

This is just down the road from Doc Henry - Rocamadour, a place of medieval pilgrimage. For the curious - Kodachrome 64.

Love the tones of that photo, Michael.

Here's a visually not very interesting photo but it's shot on colour film and not converted to grayscale; I only adjusted the colour balance to make it look monochrome.

very visually interesting, Philip.  I really like the zen-like composition.  Slightly cropped it could make an nice framed image.

on the subject of wine...

One of my monthly get-togethers with a rotating cast of 9 friends whereby each brings a very special bottle from his cellar and we feast on sickening amounts of meat.  The piece in the center is a 3 KG rib roast that was slow cooks for 10 hours by the gentleman in the far back left (standing).

According to our Doc Henry, good for the Alzheimers (God forbid), but bad for the heart (God forbid).

You just can't win...

Here are two impressions from Sanremo last autumn, both TTL 50/1.4A and, of course, Velvia 100

And for good measure another monochrome colour photo, of a cable pole in Germany.

for red wine you know why ?

Best

Henry

Stress generates "free radicals" which are in the brain, the vessel wall etc ... and in red wines (only red wine) there are tannins or polyphenols which are antioxidants that capture "free radicals". Gary is correct in saying that it is also good for the heart and blood vessels as it prevents greases from oxidizing (if oxidized blood vessels, forming atherosclerotic plaque)
