philipus Posted August 14, 2015 Share #6267 Posted August 14, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lots of new, wonderful photos in the thread. I'm away on vacation for a few more days (with a bag of 135 and 120 films to develop when I return), thus the silence. Here's however one from earlier during the summer, of a good friend at a picnic. Wish I'd had a reflector to light up the eyes a bit. Flickr 203FE 80/2.8 Provia 100

Bill Livingston Posted August 15, 2015 Share #6273 Posted August 15, 2015 It's not an easy photo to love for all sorts of reasons not least that hideous clock tower that you can see from all around the Calais area... Probably the most ugly and out of proportion landmark I know of... But oddly, it doesn't look quite so out of proportion in this photo... anyway, not the point. Of COURSE you can find examples of digital photography to illustrate your new found bias against digital... But you know as well as I do that you do NOT have to have oversharpened, extreme images such as this... and some of the film photography I see on here is appalling in terms of colour casts, or simply incorrectly developed (and not intentionally either), but most people simply look and move on and don't pass superior or negative comments at all... Or better, post something supportive and constructive. its a bit like the CCD v CMOS thread.... It gets tiresome after a while. At the end of the day the idea surely is to post photographs that educate, entertain or move the viewer, whether it's for art, documentary or news... Or simply recording your life... what happens technically in the capture process is a means to an end... How you as a photographer choose to use the tools, and your reasons for doing so, are interesting and can be informative... but simply criticising digital over film, or CCD over CMOS, is really rather churlish.
Doc Henry Posted August 15, 2015 Author Share #6274 Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Hi Bill, thank you for that frank and sincere comment. No this is not the "new" digital -analog war, but I simply speak of "beauty" of an imageyou'll be your own judge , we like it or dislikes !Digital is convenient, no more for me.Here is a picture I enlarged on my Focomat on the photographic paper. This photo is scanned (required to post , because digital), but believe me it is more beautiful on paper, more "natural" ! an example below Best Henry during my last wedding photography Marie , the bride Aug 2015 Welcome, dear visitor! Keith (M) Posted August 15, 2015 Share #6275 Posted August 15, 2015 Well, the last thing needed in one of my favourite threads is another bout of 'film -v- digital'! Plenty of other locations for such a topic if one feels the need to further dissect the issue (already done ad-nauseum). I'm quite agnostic on the subject - both methods give me pleasure in almost equal amounts. This thread serves as an interesting place to see what other film-lovers are using and their results. It would be good to encourage constructive criticisms here as there is a wealth of knowledge 'out there' and it is always good to read how ones images are perceived by a fresh pair of eyes. Anyway, have written that, back to posting images! Another from the Rolleicord/Ektar roll, this time in Westonbirt Arboretum. Welcome, dear visitor!
