Street photo with 28 mm :)

Not great, I am not satisfied but I nevertheless post the photo :o

Student behind the lady (which is thoughtful) with glasses saw me :)

Thanks for your opinion which will be catastrophic ?

Nicely in focus, nicely composed, nicely exposed (of course, you're a master!).

Henry! You're now a street photographer! :-)

What settings did you use, my friend? And how did you focus?

Henry - If I may ask you, what makes this photo interesting to you?? Please be specific.

I'd say what makes this photo interesting to Henry is that his heart was thumping in his chest when he composed the shot, and thumped even harder when the student spotted him. :-) That's what I remember about *my* first few shots... all of which had too much camera shake to be seen in public. Ah well.

Henry - are you saying that the person with the glasses was your student? Was there not another street that you could have gone shooting on? :D

In any case, I await the answer to my question...

Henry,

(The following statements are purely my subjective view) It does not always matter if people see you or not (I suppose you did not don your invisibility cloak?) it simply depends on the picture.

In the above case I fear you were not close enough perhaps by 5 m (I like to see the white of the eye of the Lady with the sunglasses :) ), and also the scene seems not so interesting.

In my experience, the busier the scene / city, the easier it is for the street photographer.

Might be a bit harsh, but certainly not intended like that. I can't see the composition as a result of:

* lack of interesting people,

* a very uninspiring location

* too far away, but at the same time, to far away from what?

Personal experience:

In the beginning and still, I find it more difficult to shoot in my own town.

I have less problems in a city like Antwerp or Amsterdam. Both about an hour drive from home. More divers people, more interesting spots.

Maybe you could try to start off in Paris? I bet you could get lovely results over there.

When you get more comfortable you can consider giving it a go in less crowded places. :)

Just saw Ric's comment and that was my experience too.

Historic re-enactments, Maskerade balls and the like may be a good place to start. People in those places like to be photographed...

Thank you Ric for your nice comment.:)

In fact, I found that people in a hurry. I was standing waiting for my sister, and suddenly I see a rush of 5 to 7 people arriving quickly. I almost missed the shot.

Adam,

I do not know the student, but he noticed my M ... maybe a photographer and also young Leicaiste? it soon begins "Leicaite" (which is an "inflammation" of the brain tend to have Leica equipment) and mania that gives tics that involves looking through a rangefinder :D

Adam, to tell you the truth I do not know ... a desire to photograph the street

Ric said just ... but I'll just do like Adam,next time , I put myself close (as noted Christophe) to the subject and I shoot so what , if he is not happy .... never mind , for street Photo , we must dare , isn't Adam ? :D

Christoph as I said earlier, I’ll rush the next time

That's why I'll try the 90 MacroElmar light and discreet and I shoot , this to have the eyes of the lady

Henry - I'm not sure that is enough for me to have a dialogue with you about the photo (which I is what I thought was your intention). Totally ok by me. I just didn't want to jump into critique without getting your perspective beforehand.

Judging by the hood ornament it could be a Plymouth.

Couldn't resist to smile reading this...

Nowadays we (including myself) complain about cars all looking the same but I have a massive problem recognizing the ones Henry is posting. They all look the same. :D
