A miller Posted February 23, 2015 Share #3281 Posted February 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) B&H and Adorama are as good as any places in the USA. As for a pocket film camera, I would bring one of those, too, for those bad weather, indoor or other situations. I always carry my Ricoh GR1V with me wherever I go. It is no substitute for a rangefinder, although I have made a few silver gelatin analog prints from it that are amazing.
Advertisement Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Hi A miller, Take a look here I like film...(open thread). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bruniroquai Posted February 23, 2015 Share #3282 Posted February 23, 2015 Thanks for the advice! I think the best compromise is T3 because of the focal lens, and the Minilux/CM because of the quality. But the Ricoh indeed is a very good camera. I should find a good shop here in EU for the film! Why is so different the film even printed on inkjet paper than digital? I would like to explain but its magical!

Guest Posted February 23, 2015 Share #3284 Posted February 23, 2015 Alex, Henry and A miller, thanks a lot for your comments. I have a Coolscan 9000 and maybe in the future will buy a Hasselblad X1 or creo IQSmart 3 Is it better to buy a good printer machine and do it yourself? For exhibition I meant. Perhaps a M9 in the future is a good idea or some CaNikon but for now I would love to try the film path. TX is my choice for B&W and Portra for color, do You know a good shop for buy color film? M6 and 35 cron asph, nothing better! But I'm regretting after sell my T3, Minilux and GR1V... Someone advice me bout carry a small digital like a x100 or gr1v but I don't feel comfortable mixing difi and film, I don't know feel weird. However for Next project... 6x6/7! I have a similar problem, if problem it is. But not quite yet. Do I next go 6/7 with an old Rolleiflex TLR? Or do I get myself a Hasselblad Xpan and go 2x35mm panoramic? The Xpan with a 40mm lens intrigues me as an alternative street camera. Meanwhile the M6 and Summicron 50mm will keep me entertained for the foreseeable future, and I also have a 28mm Elmarit in a bottom drawer to play at landscapes in the near future. Why is so different the film even printed on inkjet paper than digital? I would like to explain but its magical! I bought sometimes here Kleinbildfilm 135 and directly here : Films Negatifs couleurs Format 135 For b&w print, I do it myself through my enlarger Focomat (Ilford paper) . Grain on silver paper is present but on digital printer , it's absent. It's nicer on silver paper , a picture with a "soul" ! For color print , my Leica adviser use Kodak Royal gold silver paper. Another Leica adviser use Fuji Cristal Archiv paper Supreme . Best Henry Edited February 23, 2015 by Doc Henry

MarkP Posted February 23, 2015 Share #3289 Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the advice! I think the best compromise is T3 because of the focal lens, and the Minilux/CM because of the quality. But the Ricoh indeed is a very good camera. I recently replaced the Contax T3 that I so regretted selling some years ago. You imply above that the Minilux/CM may be superior because of the lens quality. The T3's 35mm T* Sonnar is an absolute jewel of a lens - I do not believe the compact Leica lenses are superior. The T3 is also smaller and lighter. I can't begin to describe how much I've enjoyed using a T3 again. That doesn't mean I don't love using my M7 Edited February 23, 2015 by MarkP

bruniroquai Posted February 23, 2015 Share #3292 Posted February 23, 2015 Fantastic replies here! The Hexar AF is limited to 1/250 is a shame! And the T3 prices have raised up incredibly high!

Ric Have always had something of a love-affair with 6x6cm - back in '70s & '80s it was Yashica 124G, Pentacon 6 and the mighty Mamiya C3. Always lusted after a Hasselblad but nowadays age and decrepitness rule such a weighty beast out. My solution is a Rolleicord Vb - lightweight, easy to operate and the Xenar 75mm f3.5 is superb.
