Yes Henry, I saw the two statue images and thought the same thing, wow.

And similar, but so different too. The M8 shot will tell us more.

Gary

Gary thanks for looking

It should be corrected with Lightroom if you want to have this bright color (as in reality)

I remind you that all the photos posted here are not corrected !

"Finally alone" (translation)

The color of the stone from the grave in film is faithful to what we see without the need of photo correction software, which is an exploit !

What were your thoughts when you "compared" them?

Gary

I like film...;)

I had used film exclusively until 2010 (the previous 25 years with a Nikon F3/T and AI-S primes, as well as a Contax T3 in more recent years) until I moved to Leica with an M9 so I am very familiar with film and it's look.

Not having shot much film for the past 4 years I was delighted to see these photographs: the 'organic' look and texture of the grain, the wide exposure latitude, and the colour.

It's just a different medium to digital.

I used the Monochrom today but I'll use the M7 loaded with Portra 400 tomorrow because I like film...

Snapshot of this summer, it was taken after our little party celebrating the longest day of the year 'midzomerfeest' we partied on the roof until 2:30 when it got dark and light again around 5:30!

Surfers and strong winds!

Note the sand on the foreground, it was beautiful to see it was swirling like some liquid!

The "soft" side of the photo with a "soul" (Nature is lovely and sweet, isn't ?),

not the side of "smooth" edges as in digital fact that I love film as Mark :)

I have a M8 and M9 which remain in my Billingham bag, I now go out with my 2 M7,

one with color and one with b&w film

I do not know problems of sensors (out of stock, cracks, dust, grease, dead pixels, vertical lines

or banding etc ..)

I change my lenses without being afraid of dust... and photos are "faithful" to what I see

For Mark who like film and you're right :)

Note the spider web

The colors are "true" (color of water, color of the boat, color and texture of the rope, the anchor etc.... ) ,

nothing to say for the quality of this film Kodak Portra :)

A picture "against the light" or "contre jour" , with all the details (uncorrected picture) and not "under exposed" because of the light (as in digital).

The film is very dynamic and very sensitive !

Handheld M6 plus Summicron 50mm at f/4 with Ilford XP2 and a yellow filter. Waited for weeks to get the combination of interesting clouds and sunlight texturing the Tellytubby hills around these parts.

It's a largish "moraine" area of Switzerland not far from Zürich of about twenty square miles.

Basically small hills (called drumlins, from memory - geography lessons were a good few years ago) composed of gravel, dirt and boulders dropped by the mammoth glacier that gouged out Zürich lake. Makes for gentle scenery for walks and pickies, but a buggah to cross on my mountain bike. And as we're over 700 metres up, it's coated with snow at the mo'.

The pickie is from outside our living room window, so looking at it as I type this. Life can be hard, sometimes... And Frau Capucho's about to bring me a glass of wine. Is there no end to these horrors?
