Thank you :) The ones in the Paris Album are all on film shot with a Canon A1, which was my start into film photography. The pictures from Marseille etc. in the Album "Along the french coast" are digital (5D Mark II).

I bought my M6 + 35 cron a couple of months ago and have since gone pretty much 100% film, so I will hopefully show a lot more on my flickr and tumblr :)

Doc Henry, apologies if this has been asked before, but I am curious to how you have such clear - almost digital in appearance - looking images of the Big Band ?

Many of the other images have grain, which tends to be accentuated in the scanning process. I am all for grain in certain images, but I am astounded at the clarity of the Big Band images even allowing for the uploading process into this forum.

Do you process and scan at home or do you have them processed and scanned elsewhere ? If is the former do you scan the negative or a print ?

I have not been through every page of the thread, as yet, and this question may well be better suited in another thread, so apologies again.

Thanks for looking David and for commenting !

It does not bother me at all David. Instead it makes me happy to answer. It proves that you noticed and that's a good thing !

You are welcome :)

For your question, here is how I do it :

I scan in raw Tiff with standard setting (no added anything) to post in Jpeg. I am very "nature" !

I do not post treated under LR in general all my analog.photos (not the case with M8/9) , and what you see is the color of

Fuji Superia 100 film which is an excellent film, which reminds me a lot Kodak Portra 160 ! The grain is very fine

The M7 and Leica lens also influence the quality of the picture ! :)

On these 2 pictures you can notice that the edge faces or line is very soft but "not cut with a scalpel" as in digital images

of M8 or M9 or in digital cameras in general.

This color I find on the pictures on "argentic paper" like "Kodak Royal" or "Fujichrome Profes." and are better on the post here !

Henry

Thanks Henry

Do you scan the prints or negatives and what is your scanner ?

I have not processed any colour film, yet, only black and white which I do at home and scan with a Plustek. I understand colour is particularly difficult to scan, but not from what you say, hence my question if you scan the print ?

I am currently working overseas on a works laptop which does not allow any unapproved software, so I am not in a position to post right now ! I will start posting prints here when I return home.

Thanks again, David

@David, I have a Coolscan. I make my prints on photographic paper in b&w with a Leitz Focomat (lens Focotar) and it is

with great pleasure.I develop myself also my color film (C41 process) very easy. You must have just a "bath-marie" that keeps a

temperature of 30° C for ten minutes. My photos of London posted above are developed by myself :)

Henry, your London shots are excellent. The colour from the film you have used is a true reflection of 'real' colour, especially as seen in the images of the fruit and the pink bus; the latter I walked passed maybe 3 weeks ago and do not recall it being anything as garish as your M9 rendition (I accept that dng files do need post-processing).
