It is great to find a thread like this that inspires.

I have recently purchased a 111f + 5cm Summicron in excellent condition as I missed film after years of digital work (still shoot digital though).

I have also purchased 2 rolls of Fuji Superia 200 col neg and 2 rolls of Tri X so that I can relive the days of film quality.

I do not have processing facilities (and no intention of going that route) so must rely on external resources to provide processing / printing, I will also want digital copies of the negs from the lab of a suitable quality to print up to A3 if poss so if anyone knows of a reliable resource in UK who can do this for a sensible price, I would appreciate them letting me know.

It is interesting to see that film use appears to be on the increase again as despite the quality of todays digital images, there is something about film that cannot be beaten!

Congratulations Lansky good idea .... :)

You are right ! film cannot be beaten ...it's grain not "square pixels"...and no smooth edges :D

For scanning , you have now many scanners with good prices new or second hands !

For printing I have a Focomat magnifier and Ilford paper is nice !

Very nice clouds and landscape Bateleur

I'm not sure with the digital you can get that rendering even with Lightroom ( I mean the relief)

Thank you for posting and sharing

Great photos all!

Yesterday, whilst walking the dogs, i shot a complete roll of film with an orange filter. I'll do the same when I can find some time with yellow and red so I can learn a bit more about the results. Hopefully I can find some time to develop this roll next week. :)

Love the photo of Marseille.

Lovely photos Henry. I have been shooting the m240 the couple of days. Whilst it is a joy to use and it's a keeper, I already know it won't replace my love for film.

Film looks more dreamy, the shutter of my MP sounds way better and the smell of film differs from that of an an SD card! ;)

Conclusion: I won't stop posting photos in this thread!

Thank you for your comment Allen.

I enlarged the last picture and I developed on Ilford paper with my FOCOMAT ....

...... unrelated to smooth digital pictures.

Sincerely we must admit that some can not distinguish one pixel of a grain (silver)

a smooth image versus a picture with grain, it shows anyway

In any case , I see it and why not others ?

That said, it is certain that it is more convenient to have pixels that grain, I recognize

I just listen to my vinyl records of classical music (Verdi's Aida) the same

version by Ricardo Muti is the day and night in sound versus CD . The vinyl is not dead!
