One buys additional batteries and now you need to organize how and when each, in rotation, is utilized. Yes, there is a tiny, unique number on each but what's the best way to non-destructively mark each battery for instant recognization? I don't want to introduce any foreign chemical to be placed near the camera's electronics that might cause a problem.

Ideas, anyone?

I've got four batteries that i rotate between two bodies. I dabbed little dots, 1,- 4, on the butt end of each with some of my wife's white fingernail polish & let it dry overnight.

i briefly considered white-out, but figured it'd flake off, as might regular paint. fingernail polish will adhear to anything.

I use the silver, metallic markers from Pilot, and place 1, 2, 3, ... and so on dots on the bottom of each. I see the bottom as the end where the part holding the connectors is flush with the end.

I place them end-up in a pocket in my bag and the silver dots reflect in dim light.

This could almost be advice from a photographic green beret. :)
