Leopold Green Posted May 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I've only just moved to digital with purchase of the Monochrom and there is one thing which confuses me... I'm fine importing the raw files into LR4.4 and using the develop commands in LR4.4 - when I want to play with the files in SFX2 it converts the dng file into TIFF - I understand this - but not the options - on my system the Edit file with SFX2 dialog offers these default options: Colour Space: sRGB Bit depth 16 Resolution 240 dpi -- are these correct as defaults? Isn't 240 dpi too low? isn't it meant to be 360 dpi or something like that? I must add I haven't tried printing any of the files yet [largely because don't have printer up to the job] -- I am worried that by converting into TIFF to use SFX2 I am losing some of the raw data because the resolution is low I hope this makes sense and someone is kind enough to let me know what base settings I should use Many thanks in advance

jaapv Posted May 22, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 22, 2013 The resolution is irrelevant in postprocessing, it is the number of pixels that counts. Your colourspace has no meaning in monochrome, so sRGB should do fine. 16 bits is OK as well. LR will set the correct resolution in the print module. Which may be as low as 150 DPI in some cases.
