lines on M240

I received my M240 a couple weeks ago on a Friday, by the Monday I had it boxed and on its way back to Leica. It had a vertical line just to lower left of centre of 280 pixels that was on every frame regardless of settings. I also sent back my brand new 50mm Summilux as I found it was out one the M240 within two hours. My five old well used lenses were all perfect. I wonder about quality control, and if after my camera returns will it be any better. It is very disappointing as these were both very obvious flaws, that I feel should have never been allowed to leave the factory.

Yes, I agree. Until today I have not hear any further news from Leica, only one email informing me that they are trying to solve the problem; but they did not ask me to send back the M240 for further investigation. I wonder if I should return my camera to the dealer. I bought my camera in Singapore as a kit with summicron 35.

I have had a Canon G9 and it has a spot and Canon paid back the full purchase price, and that's was only G9 but good service and warranty by Canon. I just hope that Leica still "Leica" that we always trusted for quality for so many decade.

Now I have 6 M lenses and 6 R lenses but no decent body to play with.

I hope this time the attachment is uploaded. Maybe you can see the lines that I have on my M240.

Hi Didinjoo,

That doesn't look acceptable to me.

I would return it and try to get a better copy.

As I am still waiting for my M240, I am using NEXs and an OM-D E-M5 for my M- and R-lenses.

Also I am keeping my M9 as well.

Good luck to you in figuring out what to do.

I had experienced the same problem on a horizontal line at /5 the total height from above.

I notified Solms with a copy of the problem image when I sent in my camera for the recall.

After the return of my camera, I've tried to replicate the problem image with the same lens, setting and high ISO but did not manage to reproduce the mystery line.

Hi,

I got no response from Leica, maybe they are trying to find the solution.

The lines exist on all my images that taken with M240. If Leica did not response at all, I will try to get refund from the dealer. I am not buying a camera with such a quality and expensive with Leica brand name with such lines issue.

The problem I have is that in fact I like their lenses, both M & R, their are the best. Maybe I have to wait for Fuji full frame camera, but I still wish that Leica will be able to repair or change the sensor.

Regards,
