V-Lux3 - occasional problem writing image to SD card.

Hello: I own a V-Lux3, which is a fine camera in every respect...except I do have one problem with it. Is anyone else experiencing this issue??

When using the camera, occasionally it will fail to write an image to the SD card. If I review the image, it appears blank. If i try to delete the image, the message 'this image cannot be deleted' appears. On the SD card, there is an image file with the correct L.....jpg name. Occasionally also I get the message 'check sd card'. If i switch off/on the camera, all is OK again.

The problem is that, unless I review the image, I do not know that the 'write' has failed - so I might return from using the camera and find i have an image missing.

This problem occurs on various SD cards, all of which have been formatted on the camera.

Does this happen to anyone else? Do I need to get a firmware update??

Any information welcome, thenk you.

Tim Ecott.

Though I don't have an answer for you you might want to set the camera to brifly show the captured image in the viewfinder right after you click the shutter. The downside of this is you'll have to wait to take the next photo.

It could be related to an old somewhat weak , soft battery.

Writing to the memory takes some current. This extra load might cause a dip in battery voltage.

Does it also happen with your fresh spare battery?

Does it happen after some use, i.e. half full battery, which makes the battery "softer".

Thanks this may be worth checking...I have two batteries so i can keep one fully charged and use the other - then swap if problem occurs. However, since posting the problem here it has not happened! But i will keep suggestion in mind. p.s. both batteries seem pretty good and last a long time when taking pics - so i dont think either needs replacing..
