jaapv Posted April 3, 2007 Share #23  Posted April 3, 2007 So just the 400/6.8 is sans adapter. I did say "assume" not "know". ;>) best....Peter  And the 560/6.8 and the 800/8.0 and the 5.6/400 and 5.6/560.The Novoflex lens series type one and two. Type three with alteration, still done by Novoflex. All these are without adapter and focus to infinity. All short lenses which have no protruding rear elements fit without adapter and will work in the macro range, as will the Novoflex3 without alteration. Lensheads of the 90 and 135 lenses old type will fit on the Universal-Schnecke, as will the 65 mm macro and 100/4.0 macro head. Novoflex still builds the bellows with the adapter VISA new, which will take anything one can imagine, including the lensheads mentioned before and the Photar series of micro-lenses. jaapv Posted April 3, 2007 Share #27 Â Posted April 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) There is an adapter , between the lens and the mount , with the chrome button on top, but it is of a type I have never seen. It is indeed not OUBIO.[edit] Another look: it is in the top right of your image the 14138 adapter.

lars_bergquist Posted April 3, 2007 Share #29  Posted April 3, 2007 I believe the 400/6.8 has significant curvature of field. I can certainly see that with shots taken with an R9 (same lens head as the M version). I was told Leica designed it this way to give an apparent increased depth of field as objects in the bottom of the field tend to be closer, I would take that with a marketing pinch of salt though. Bob.  These 2-element achromats were intended for animal and sports photography, where the great curvature of the field did not matter. The object in the center of the field was what mattered, and the lightness of the gear. The marketing people of those days were the original spin doctors … their present heirs are in software ("it's not a bug, it's a feature").  The old man from the Age B.C. gtmerideth Posted April 3, 2007 Share #30  Posted April 3, 2007 My 280 has an M mount bayonet. It is the revised version from 1970. Mounts directly to the viso. Here is a shot on a cloudy day. Allowed no blown highlights in the dome. gary Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! carstenw Posted April 3, 2007 Share #31 Â Posted April 3, 2007 I also have the newest 280/4.8 with the smooth focusing ring (not the ribbed one), and I can see no way to attach the rear of the lens. I don't think there is an adapter there.
Artichoke Posted April 4, 2007 Share #32 Â Posted April 4, 2007 I expect to receive a Telyt 5.6/560 Friday from KEH they listed it as "bargain" grade, but assured me it was optically sound (KEH tends to be very conservative with their grading) and I will have a 2 week free return, should I not like it I plan to use it mainly for birds & possibly some sports the Viso is growing on me ...I put up some macros taken with the 135 Tele Elmar head that came with my Viso & have been VERY impressed with the quality of this venerable lens here is a link to the thread in Nature & Wildlife with my Viso shots http://www.leica-camera-user.com/nature-wildlife/20871-dianthus-two-orchids.html I thank you all enough for steering me to this great option for M photography
Guest guy_mancuso Posted April 4, 2007 Share #33 Â Posted April 4, 2007 I just got the 90 macro today and the adapter and it gets more than close enough for my needs and was actually thinking of selling my Viso setup. This stuff is making me reconsider for the long stuff. LOL

lars_bergquist Posted April 5, 2007 Share #35 Â Posted April 5, 2007 A lens I can really recommend on a Viso is the Telyt-V 200mm/4.0. That is really one of the best colour-corrected 200 mm lenses I have ever worked with. With the M8 it is of course roughly equivalent to 270 mm. jaapv Posted April 5, 2007 Share #36 Â Posted April 5, 2007 It depends on the subject Lars. I agree on the colour correction, but the resolving power can only be classified as modest.

The 14138 adapter is to fit the last-version 280/4.8 lens head (w/o focussing helix) to the Televit.
carstenw Posted April 5, 2007 Share #38 Â Posted April 5, 2007 Hmm, I wrote "attach" rather than "detach". To be clear, my 280/4.8 Telyt-V is one piece, and fits directly onto the Visoflex III. Jaap, I will keep you in mind, but I got such a sweet deal on it, and I really like this lens, so I honestly can't imagine selling.

gogopix Posted April 5, 2007 Share #40  Posted April 5, 2007 thought I would try this here  ""I have a series of cameras adapters and lenses, and have noticed an interesting anomoly; the leica "M" Visoflex M mount is too thick to fit into a regular M mount!  I can understand Leica didnt want Viso lenes accidentally maounted directly to the camera, but I have a situation (that I will explain whebn the test is done! :-) but i have to put a Viso lens on an adapter that has M body mount - and it doent go! (it is actiatlly the Leica 14596 bellows adapter with M mount) the release is in the way and even when I take that off the mount on the viso lens is too thick for the mount spacings.  BTW they DO work the right wany . No problem Viso on Visoflex III and M lenses on bellows adapter just fine.  Was this deliberate? Is there ANY adapter for Viso to M (other than the TzBOO that is too thick, or was it the TXFOO?)  any help welcome"""  regards
