giordano Posted April 29, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted April 29, 2013 I've never heard of one for 35mm cameras. In any case, most ultra-wide-angle optical viewfinders have severe barrel distortion which makes it harder to square up an image and would reduce the effectiveness of gridlines even if they could be provided. Â Adding gridlines to current viewfinders such as the Leica or Zeiss 21mm ones or the Frankenfinder is possible in principle but would be very difficult and the result might not be very usable. Â There are however some medium or large format viewfinders that take interchangeable masks to define the field of view. Alpa make one, for example, and offer to provide custom masks with any lines you want. So they should be able to provide one for the 21 on 35 field of view with gridlines ... after which you'd just have to modify the Alpa finder to fit a standard accessory shoe... geotrupede Posted April 29, 2013 Author Share #4 Â Posted April 29, 2013 Thanks Giordano, I had the same impression... A little surprised that there is none but the alpa. But I guess rangefinder is more about the action... Anyway, will keep looking. G.
