aufderlauer Posted April 15, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there Since at least 3 weeks I am a proudly owner of a X2 à la carte. I love this small camera, it gives me rich and superb picture quality, easy operation and perfect for carrying everywhere. Jpeg's out of the camera are really good, have punch, very good colors, no or very little noise till ISO800 and a good dynamic range. You can work with software to stretch histogram, curves etc and the picture will still look good or better than the original. DNG's unfortunately have a very bad support with professional software like Phase One C1 or in Lightroom 4.4. With PS CS4 is no DNG development possible, you need to upgrade to CS6. Files in C1 are really bad, with false colors. I was always a fan of this program, giving me best and crispy pictures with all my cams before. So I decided to write Phase One support. Here their original comment on my request: " Hello Daniel, So I see the Leica X1 is supported so I will make sure we add this (X2) to a feature request list. The development for support is between Leica and Phase One so we will see. Thanks, Phase One Support" What? 10 months after launch they seem not knowing about this brand new model... It is the job of Leica to announce P1 to integrate it in their software - Leica seems having no interest to do that. I can't believe it. Or unprofessionally, beeing careless or where is the point? Shame on them for this - I am very disappointed. It's like buying a new car but no benzin station anywhere to have the right fuel for it. Also in Lightroom is no profile for X2, but you can develop it in a manageable way for good results. Not perfect. I don't like this. Hope we find a way to proceed integration of our X2 to programms like this. Any user experience of others? Daniel
Advertisement Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Hi aufderlauer, Take a look here Leica X2 DNG-Software. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted April 15, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 15, 2013 A bit puzzled - making a camera profile is surely up to the software developer? I fail to see how Leica can be blamed for C1's tardiness (It took them nearly a year to get their software to recognize the monochrom DNGs....) aufderlauer Posted April 15, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted April 15, 2013 Hi Jaap I did'n wrote that it is only the problem of Leica. But as the supporter wrote - it's an affair inbetween Phase One and Leica to solve. Every one of them may respond, that they are waiting on an answer of each other. But at least one of them should start the process!
jaapv Posted April 15, 2013 Share #4 Posted April 15, 2013 I don't think that is the case. The latest update from C1 included the Monochrom. I'm sure the X2 will follow in due course. I don't think Leica has any way of influencing Capture One. The DNG standard is in the public domain by Adobe, it is just a question of implementing it.
