chrismuc Posted May 28, 2013 Share #21 Posted May 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica R 28f2.8: Image circle with about 50mm only slightly smaller than S sensor. Good sharpness at f8-f11 across the frame. (Schneider) Leica R 28f2.8 PC: My version is modified for usage on Contax 645 camera (I removed the whole shift mechanism by machining and added a Contax mount.) With an image circle of about 62mm it easily covers the Leica S sensor but not totally the IQ sensor. A similar conversion of the (Schneider) Leica R 28f2.8 PC for the Leica S seems possible and would allow more easily infinity focusing than using the Leica R 28f2.8 with an adapter. jip Posted May 31, 2013 Share #23 Posted May 31, 2013 Has anyone tried the 1st version Elmarit-R 180mm 3cam version? I think this would be a fine lens on the S2 if it workes out nice. The non APO version I mean...
plewislambert Posted July 4, 2013 Share #24 Posted July 4, 2013 Anybody try a Nikkor PC 28mm f2.8 on a Leica S? The lens has a maximum image circle stopped down that allows 11mm of shift either way on an M9. I had been trying to mount it on my 6x9 monorail but the flange to film distance of the lens is too short and a recessed panel impractical, given the overall size of the lens. veraikon Posted July 7, 2013 Share #25 Posted July 7, 2013 may be the image circle isn´t the problem but the flange distance.
Likaleica Posted September 14, 2013 Share #26 Posted September 14, 2013 It sounds PERFECT for my uses. I'd need a longer lens too... a modular APO-Telyt for example. I can live without lenses shorter than 280mm, and anything beyond 40' is too far away. The next trick is to raise some serious cash Doug - check out this article by David Farkas. I think this is what you're looking for.

wildlightphoto Posted September 17, 2013 Share #28 Posted September 17, 2013 Doug - check out this article by David Farkas. I think this is what you're looking for. The Contax 645 adapter has gotten me thinking of the Zeiss Contax 350mm Tele-Apotessar, 1.4x Mutar & extension tubes. If I sold every last bit of my R equipment I could get this stuff plus a used S2, but it would mean selling the 280mm f/4 APO and my newly-aquired, hard-earned backup 280mm f/4 APO. The 350mm Tele-Apotessar, Mutar & extension tubes would be suitable for 99% of my photos; for the other 1% the shorter Zeiss Contax lenses are relatively inexpensive. I'm just not willing to let go of the APO-Telyts.
Likaleica Posted October 11, 2013 Share #29 Posted October 11, 2013 Well, if you decide to sell one of your apo-telyts, please contact me first! I figured R was history several years ago and traded all mine (except the apo-macro and a few short focal lengths of no trade-in value) for my S2, which I love. However, I'm finding the M with LV is a pretty outrageous 35mm format setup and I'm pretty sure Leica are not going to make a 600mm f2.8 S lens anytime soon. Hope you got some great shots in Yellowstone.
wildlightphoto Posted October 11, 2013 Share #30 Posted October 11, 2013 ... Hope you got some great shots in Yellowstone. Plans changed (that's a volatile off-topic subject) but I did visit Antelope Island state park in Utah. Welcome, dear visitor!
