Today I went out for the first time to shoot on the street. I tried to be "stealthy" and shot from the hip most of the time.

I had never used zone focusing before but went for it anyway. Wow, lots to learn but it was fun. I got done before the sprinkles started.

Shot fully on manual: ISO 800, f/16, 1/500th sec

These are JPEG's right out of the camera with a little tweaking.

I think this couple had just left the courthouse which is just out of the pic on the right. They may have been attending a wedding ceremony or maybe they just go married themselves.

Vic,

Welcome to the forum. Of the two pictures, I like the second the most because the gentleman has the building as the background while the first has the nondescript background. Nice composition, tones and sharpness.

Paul and Stuart,

In street photography, does the pic always have to be level and show the entire person?

I have a couple that came out good, exposure wise, but because I had my camera at my side I didn't get full or straight coverage.

I appreciate your help.

Personally, I find that to be a loaded question, I have seen tilted pictures that were quite acceptable if it isn't too extreme. Also pictures that have some of the person cut off can be fine, but again, as long as it's not too much. (My opinion only). Sometimes it is inevitable to have tilt or cut-off subjects that still passes the muster.
