BobbyT Posted March 27, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted March 27, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a high-speed analog timer that allows one to shoot pictures to accurately determine shutter lag. There was an old one online that was perfect--an analog face on the computer screen that timed two seconds per revolution, so one could anticipate the sweeping hand coming up on the 12 o'clock position, trip the shutter at that point, and have the image show the time it was actually recorded. Â Someone on a Leica forum gave me a link to this timer a while back, but I've suffered a computer virus and lost the link when I had to reconfigure my computer. Any help in finding this timer, or a similar one is greatly appreciated.

pico Posted March 28, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted March 28, 2013 Shutter lag is not a real issue with Leica M cameras, whether digital or analog. Â What's the objective of your query? .
BobbyT Posted March 28, 2013 Author Share #3 Â Posted March 28, 2013 My objective is to find a timer so I can time shutter lag on various digital cameras, which don't have the instant response of a Leica M. Â Another person on this forum kindly provided a link to such a timer in the past, but perhaps he/she is not reading the forum now.
kdriceman Posted March 28, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted March 28, 2013 Triggertrap https://triggertrap.com/ has a free iPhone and Droid app that will time shutter lag on Canons, Nikons and some other cameras. It is called "Lag-o-meter" . You have to dig around in the settings section of the app, under Shutter, then next to the Shutter Lag slider is a small clock icon which, when touched, opens up the Lag-o-meter. Â You need to have the Triggertrap dongle ($20 or so) to connect the iPhone to your camera. You point the camera at the app and the app triggers your camera and simultaneously starts a timer. The camera, of course, takes a picture of the Lag-o-meter and you have shutter lag. Â I've used it on my Canon DSLR's. It seems to work fine. Â Sorry, I'm not familiar with an online version. BobbyT Posted March 29, 2013 Author Share #6 Â Posted March 29, 2013 kdricemand and jaapv: Â Thanks very much, those are both very clever ideas. I'm going to continue searching a while longer for the one I used before, a downloadable analog timer with a two-second sweep, which I really liked. If I can't find it, I will try your great suggestions.
