tobey bilek Posted March 24, 2013 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2013 Commercial printing uses the black point to establish exposure. If there is none, then it prints down until something is black. Are you submitting in the correct color space? ProFoto looks nice, but the colors will not reproduce. You will need to change color space before submission or work your flow all the way thru in the color space the lab requires. That way there are no out of gamut colors. Most labs want sRGB. ASK. Are you soft proofing with the proper profile? Turn on SP, add the profile, due the corrections to make it look correct, THEN TURN OFF the profile, and you have a file that has too much contrast, That is what you submit. When printed, the deficiencies in the printing process will bring it back to the original . Naturally your screen has to be calibrated so you are seeing correct colors and contrast. This is why people spend big $ in pro monitors. It is the old garbage in, garbage out. Then the lab has to be in control which is why I use AiProLab. They are always perfect. Or send to a lab that does color correction and profiling. Ai will do that also.
