I have read lots of negative reviews of this camera but do love the look of it and the way it feels in my hand. Is it worth getting?  A new Nikon Coolpix A is priced quite a bit higher and I would take the X1 any day over the Nikon. With other words, the X1 is the best truly jacket pocketable aps-c sensor camera. And at the price you mention, it`s a great buy. If you can live with its known limitations, go for it. Â If you are comfortable with the ergonomics and price, just go for it. It is a simple camera but still rewards the owner who takes time to learn the various modes of operation. msbel Posted March 24, 2013 Share #8  Posted March 24, 2013 Been using the X1 since it appeared on the scene years ago. It is still the camera I reach for the most. IQ is great. It takes some use to figure out the way you like to use it. For me, Aperture mode and manual focus when wanting max DOF.  I have Leica M digital and film bodies, and the X1 still leaves the house most.  Recommend picking up the Thumbs Up accessory from matchtechnical, as well as a Voigtlander 35mm OVF if you want a viewfinder…works close enough once you get used to it.  Don't look back. About your question it depends a lot on your photographic habits and experience. If you feel comfortable to work with a fixed wide angle lens and to "control" the camera the x1 is an excellent tool. But despite its simplicity it is not always easy to use, you need to dedicate some time to learn it. robert PS: mot of the photo in my blog are taken with the x1, like these and these. Â In the end I decided to buy an X2 with viewfinder which was also a good buy. Used but in almost new condition. Just getting to know it now.
