philipus Posted March 19, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leicashop is selling a black paint Summilux (11623), that is, with pull-out hood, red numbers and knurled focusing ring. It's from the last batch of Summiluxes in 2006 (Leicashop lists it erroneously as 2000). Was this model ever sold as part of a commemorative edition or why was it otherwise issued? Advertisement Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Hi philipus, Take a look here Summilux 50mm pre-Asph (11623) at Leicashop. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted March 19, 2013 Share #2 Posted March 19, 2013 Afaik the 11623 was normally listed... a black PAINT version with the old-style knurled ring which differentiates it from the standard black chrome 11868 : it is interesting for it was the LAST Summilux made, before the asph, and surely was made in no big numbers, hence the high price for a fine item : in that timeframe also the titanium version was made... and also the limited edition in screw mount. Optically, it is exactly as any other Summilux of the '80s/90s, so the 11623 can be regarded as a sort of collector's item...iirc, they are the only Summiluxes 50 in the "4.xxx.xxx" range.... as for using, one can spend less money and have the same results
Guest Posted March 21, 2013 Share #3 Posted March 21, 2013 See also ebay completed listings nr. 221196050938. Leicashop's dealer premium is not above average and justified imo.
luigi bertolotti Posted March 21, 2013 Share #4 Posted March 21, 2013 I agree... it is really like new, box etc... of course any price of such items can be discussed... but it does sound a reasonable ask (which, to stay on the same dealer, cannot be said about the 39000 € they ask for a fine Summilux 35 "black with chrome ring"... I even wonder if isn't a typo, being 1/10th, imho, more in tune with that item... )

These lenses were NOT the last pre-asph Summiluxes made, despite their serial number seemlingly indicating this. These lenses were part of a special edition of black paint lenses (there was also a Summicron 2/90 apo asph and a Summicron 2/35 asph I believe) which were sold at the same time as the M6 TTL Millenium edition. I have seen these lenses here in Munich in 2000, and at the time noted that their serial numbers were way ahead of the then current production lenses. Best, Andreas
Guest Posted March 21, 2013 Share #6 Posted March 21, 2013 :oWould have bid 2k for the ebay one, if it was Christmas, so time for a treat . The mark-up of the 2/35 Asph black-paint (and also 2/90 Asph black-paint) compared to the black chrome is understandable, being optically the latest model + brass + black (and rare, for those who care). While this one here is essentialy a very old optical design, interesting for collectors. So it is a matter of how rare it is and if it is a mint copy, with box and all papers. Not my world, I'm afraid.

Best, Andreas You're right... the "millenium edition" hadn't came to my mind... ... here is a fine kit for sale, M6 + Summilux 50, with the three final digits of the Summilux matching the 3 final digits of the body... Newoldcamera (the seller has also another one for sale, same edition, same lens)
