DaveEP Posted March 29, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My IR filters finally arrived, so I though I better set about getting my lenses coded. The only one that was already coded was my 75/2. Â I have succeeded in self coding my 28/2.8 and 90/2, but my (1983) 50/2 seems to have screws in exactly the wrong place, and no matter how I try (and I tried > 10 times last night), the M8 just won't see it. I tried both 50/2 types, but no luck with either (010111 and 100001). Â Has any one succesfully self coded one of these, or is this one that can't be done? Given where the screws are, can this even be done in Solms? Â Also, the VC 35/2.5 seems to have the same problem. Is this also 'not' self codable? Eoin Posted March 29, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 29, 2007 Hi Dave, Â I had exactly the same problem. My solution was to use Tippex correction fluid, I flooded the screw with the fluid and waited 'till it dried then with a razor blade shaved it down flush with the mount ring. Then it was just a matter of drawing the lines. Â Regards. Â Eoin
robertwright Posted March 29, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 29, 2007 I have had a hard time coding because the mounts don't seem to reflect enough sometimes, or in one case a screw head, so I have been using dvd labels with sharpie to get it to work, I now have all my lenses coded. I also made a little caliper out of acetate to indicate where the codes go. Â I have also been trying p-touch labels which are pretty durable, using the capital I as the bar, medium bold seems to work too. Â Your problem might be the lack of white. DaveEP Posted March 29, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted March 29, 2007 Thanks for the input guys. All it needed was some extra white over the screw and that did it. Â Hopefully I can do the same for the VC
