algrove Posted March 12, 2013 Share #21  Posted March 12, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I probably goes for a 24mm or 21mm if i can find good price for an used one...i think it would be a good choice also if i need an external viewfinder. On the other hand i could go for a 28mm elmarit because my personal shop has one for a very good price...mmmhh. Hard choice  You ask and you get everyone else's opinion, but maybe they are no good for you. Ask your shop if you can rent the 28 you are looking at for a weekend or a week. You might not like it even at the good price, if it is not for you it is not a good price.  I have all you are discussing and it's my mood and/or specific use that determines what I take on any given trip, day or hour.  The new small wide Elmar M lenses are dynamite and sharp. Dan Bachmann Posted March 12, 2013 Share #22 Â Posted March 12, 2013 it's my mood and/or specific use that determines what I take on any given trip, day or hour. Â My feelings are the same. Â I don't think I am alone in saying skipping a standard length for keeping a bag light works well. 21mm works well with a 50mm as a two lens setup; though a 35mm and a 75mm is sweeter. A 35mm and a 50mm are also nice. Â My 28mm was sold because I found it difficult to frame (even without glasses). I've been happy with the 21mm but I have to admit, in the beginning some of the motivation was I just wanted to try an external viewfinder! It doesn't bother me at all except for the fact that I have to fiddle taking out my Thumbs-Up to mount it.
