rudingshain Posted March 10, 2013 Share #21 Â Posted March 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also can recommend the the Summicron C 40. It has nice rendering and is very sharp when stopped down to 2.8. At 2.0 it is a little bit soft and glowy. I often use it without IR Filter when I use it for black and white. I have ordered an BW IR /UV Filter for 5.5. At the moment I use it with IR/UV E39 Filter from Leica which is tricky but it works. I like the rendering of the mid older lenses like Summicron 50 ore 35 non asph for the M8 more than the clinical looking new lenses. For the new Leica M i think the newest lenses are a must have to get the best out of this camera. The M8.2 is a sort of analog digital camera that I very much prefer. !Nomad64 Posted March 10, 2013 Share #23 Â Posted March 10, 2013 If you're used to a 50 on your FF camera then a 35/40 mm is the most logical choice. Further to vouching for the Summicron 40 I'd also consider a Summarit 35. It's only half a stop slower than a Summicron 35, has no focus shift and is optically equivalent if not a notch better, not to mention that it has way more a pleasant bokeh. You can buy one new at the price of a used Summicron 35. Â Hope this helps. Bruno

tobey bilek Posted March 13, 2013 Share #25 Â Posted March 13, 2013 If you intend to make color pics, get something that takes commonly available UV/IR filters from B+W, Leica, or Heliopan. Colors are rendered not correctly without it. Then you need to code the lens. Â Frame lines do not match a 40 mm. Â 35 mm version 4 is what i use, left over from 198x when I bought it. Â I would get a 35 mm 2.8 Biogon as a budget lens. Very sharp and you can home code it
