terrycioni Posted March 28, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greetings. Â I know there has been some concern about contacting Luigi at Leicatime but I ordered two adjustable neckstraps late Friday - he shipped them on Monday and I got them Tuesday before noon and I am in Vancouver Canada. Excellent service and a gentlemen to deal with. Â More important the quality of the neckstraps is amazing - they will last a long long time. I would guess they will out live the M8, M9, and then some. Â Best. Terry.

chetccox Posted March 28, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 28, 2007 I ordered the half-case and strap for the M8 Tuesday. Luigi shipped the items Tuesday evening and they arrived before noon today. The workmanship is beautiful. His email is still flakey but he answers his phone and is great to deal with. I now have a new Leica half-case and full case (both unused). Send a PM if interested. There is however no comparison.
London Lad Posted March 28, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 28, 2007 I have just placed an order with Liugi and had good, prompt communications with him via email. He was also extremely helpful with some special requests.

lars_bergquist Posted March 28, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted March 28, 2007 I would never use a leather strap on a camera. They had to use that stuff in the days before synthetics, but rotted, it dried out and it broke. And it was stiff! Leather straps are strictly for fetishists. Â I have never liked the Leica straps however. I did not use it, but put a Domke on my M8. Â The old man who remembers the Age of Leather Straps. I don't appreciate being called a 'fetishists' whatever that is. This forum never stops amazing me.  Terry.

True, cheap synthetics are more imperviuos to humidity and will outlast leather. But the Luigi case and strap will probably outlast me, which is long enough for all practical purposes. Now the handle and smell of Italian leather versus a synthetic web strap? No contest. A lot of what makes the M platform attractive is how it handles and Luigi's products certainly enhance that experience. Excuse me while I go stroke my leather case

george + Posted March 28, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted March 28, 2007 Lars, you may be "The old man who remembers the Age of Leather Straps." Â I am not that young myself. The original leather strap on my 1971 M5 is softer than ever. And a joy to handle. So is the one on my M8. It came from Luigi for my old D2. Â Those memories of ours are not always exact, are they? Â (And Luigi is always a pleasure to deal with - I just wish he would take Visa)
yoMammabot Posted March 28, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted March 28, 2007 I ordered my Leicatime strap from Ebay.. I still haven't heard anything. I'm sure I'll hear something eventually.
losta Posted March 28, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted March 28, 2007 That reminds me that I need to place my order with Luigi. I have a Luigi half case for my M6 TTL and had one for my R-D1 (sold with R-D1). I love the Luigi Leather cases, fine old world craftsmanship and quality for a new world product. Has anyone ordered the battery case?

I'm sure its in the process of delivery....you have to understand, I have a very impatient M8!!!
spydrxx Posted March 28, 2007 Share #15 Â Posted March 28, 2007 Count me as another fetishist. I used to make my own specialty straps from leather as well as synthetic materials.IMHO it is hard to beat Luigi's for quality and functionality. I rotate mine among cameras.
