Jeff S Posted March 8, 2013 Share #161 Posted March 8, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think DXO now supports the M9 and hopefully will support the M too. In any case, you can do this kind of color change on tiffs or jpegs too. FWIW, LR 4 (unlike LR3) provides for local adjustments for color temp and/or tint using either the adjustment brush or the graduated filter in the develop module. swiss leica fan Posted March 8, 2013 Share #162 Posted March 8, 2013 The other day I had a chance to do some test shots with a demo version of the M240. I made a comparison of M9/50mm ASPH vs M240/50mm ASPH and D800E/1.8 50mm AFS vs M240/50mm ASPH at daylight under controlled conditions. You may see the 1:1 crops of the test shots here: M9 50mm Lux ASPH vs. M240 50mm Lux ASPH | Flickr - Photo Sharing! D800E 1.8/50 AFS vs M240 1.4/50 Lux ASPH | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Jeff I haven't used Lightroom in a while. I'm not surprised if there are several ways to achieve this goal. I do find the DXO method very direct and easy to use. terrycioni Posted March 9, 2013 Share #164 Posted March 9, 2013 As has been pointed-out any comparison should include the ergonomic and technical refinements to the camera. I have little doubt the IQ will be better on the M and perhaps not to the taste of everyone and so it goes. The CMOS versus CCD discussion at least to me seems a bit tired at this point. However, from what I have read here and elsewhere the M 240 is a better camera from a usability perspective. Heck, I was thrilled to hear it has a bigger battery - that alone is 'almost' worth the price of admission. I continue to be a happy user of my original M8/M8.2/ and I still enjoy my M9. Do I want an M 240 of course, but not in the cards at this point in my retired life cycle . Cheers, Terry.

Regards Andreas Andreas, interesting. But I am not sure what to deduce. The whole point of post processing is to make adjustments to obtain the desired exposure, colour temperature etc. Regular adjustments simply go into a preset which can be applied during downloading. Those adjustments are likely to vary between cameras.
wda Posted March 9, 2013 Share #166 Posted March 9, 2013 Terry, I guess your facts and logic apply to many Leica-users. On a cost/benefit analysis, the merit points of replacement are marginal; on an emotional level the lure can be seductive.

What is important is that Leica keeps moving forward with the digital M. Cheers, Terry.
theno23 Posted March 10, 2013 Share #168 Posted March 10, 2013 Steve, I've been shooting a project for almost a year now that has required a lot of photography at ISO 3200. I found the M9 not up to the job (for my tastes anyway) - that and the wildy inaccurate viewfinder framelines made me use a Canon 5d 3. I've just ordered the M: can you post some ISO 3200 samples please? I've tested the framelines on the M and I'm happy with the change. Mike. Sorry for not responding sooner, not been around - I will when I get a chance, but quite busy, and going away shortly - there are some good sample high ISO (mostly ISO 3200) shots posted by Leica Miami on Facebook: - Steve
