WillTemple Posted March 2, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've had my M8 for about a year now, the guy I bought it off had it for four. I moved from the UK to Brunei about 7 months ago, I use the camera daily for both personal and client work. A couple of months ago I started to get seriously annoying red lines appearing from the top and bottom edges of the frame (when in landscape orientation). Cloning these on 50-150 images wasn't fun... So I contacted Leica telling them the problem, a very pleasant German lady rang me up and we actually had a nice chat, it was a bit surreal but I really felt like they cared about my situation. She told me to post it into their Singapore department as it was closest to me, so I did. They next day I got an email saying that the sensor had been fixed and it was on it's way back. It's now working better than ever and iso noise has dropped dramatically too, couldn't be happier! Seriously impressed with the customer care on a 5 year old camera without any warranty. If anyone has M8 problems I'd just contact them, they seem really up to help.

tobey bilek Posted March 2, 2013 Share #2 Posted March 2, 2013 A goodwill repair. you are fortunate. You might actually buy a camera from them someday and this is the best advertising they can do. Although the bean counters do not see it that way.

Well done Leica and well done you for reporting it! Obsolete - "no longer produced or used; out of date" Mine is no longer produced and it is definitely out of date . . . but I still use it. Will, I'm glad they fixed your camera. I hope you get many years of use out of it.
