Tim Hogendoorn Posted February 20, 2013 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello there, Last time I posted something about the M8, it was about my internship mentor's M8 that had a problem with the shutterspeed dial. This time, I have the ability to buy myself a mint M8 for €1300 but I am wondering if it is worth it considering the serialnumber (31003xx) wich means it was made with the first batch (late 2006 if i'm not mistaking) and that again means: green ghosting, point source light smearing, and poor auto-white-balance. How were these problems adressed with firmware updates if this camera was never sent back to Leica for the free repair service back then? Thank's a lot. Advertisement Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Hi Tim Hogendoorn, Take a look here M8 s/n: 31003xx. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ulrik Posted February 20, 2013 Share #2 Posted February 20, 2013 I bought a like new M8 for the price you mentioned with serial no. 31078xx. I have not seen the green ghosting and point source light smearing yet. I have not cared for white balance as I only shoot B&W with it and jpg is just a means to have the display picture shown in B&W too. Ulrik
jaapv Posted February 20, 2013 Share #3 Posted February 20, 2013 All of them, as far as we know, have been recalled and brought to the new standard. If needed, Leica will still do the update. AWB is pretty good with the newest firmware.
