jim_royer Posted March 26, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like some opinions from M8 owners whether you intend to have the 6-bit coding done on your existing lenses? I've sent one in to have it done, but have two more not yet sent in to Leica. Your comments appreciated. Jim
Advertisement Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Hi jim_royer, Take a look here 6 -bit coding . Good investment?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted March 26, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 26, 2007 I'm going to get mine done, but with the current backlog I'll be waiting until after Easter. Â Correction to vignetting and the filter/cyan corners is the main reason.
grober Posted March 26, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 26, 2007 Resources permitting, it's my intention to have all my M8 lenses professionally coded. That includes both Leica and non-Leica optics. (Professionally coding non-Leica lenses is only a wish at this stage of market development in this arcane niche.) Â The only urgency seems to be on lenses wider than 35mm where the effect is most noticeable. Â -g
asmith Posted March 26, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted March 26, 2007 I've had a 50mm 'lux and a 75 'cron done. It took 8 weeks. My 28mm 'cron has been away 10 weeks and still not back. I.ve also sent a 90mm macro elmar and attachment but thjey've only been away 2 weeks. I understand they.ve been swamped but have also run out of the necessary components for some lenses. I'm told that they may soon be doing them at Milton Keynes and that this might bspeed things up. Alwyn
tom0511 Posted March 26, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted March 26, 2007 I sent my 21,28 and 35 in for coding, and they are ready for me to pick them up. I doubt that I will get my 50/75/90 coded. I think if you want to use ir filters than it makes sense to get all widees up to35mm coded. For 50mm I am not sure. My lenses here in Germany were coded in about 3 weeks
hankg Posted March 26, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted March 26, 2007 I sent in my 21 but 50 and above I won't have done. 35 is borderline but my 35 is a Zeiss so that will have to be done with a sharpie if needed.
