robbegibson Posted March 26, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just wanted to say thanks to Robert Fisk and all the folks at Leica NJ for the quick turnaround of my Digilux 2 sensor replacement. It was done in 10 days and returned UPS 2nd day. The camera's images now seem slightly better than when new. Â Thanks again! Â Robbe Gibson

gogopix Posted March 27, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 27, 2007 Don't mean to 'pile on' but it is nice for a change to have a positive thread (that quickly went to page 5 w/o a comment! Â The team, Robert Fisk, Brenda etc really are doing a great job in very tough circumsatnces. Â 5-6 weeks with no send or customs hassle for the Solms trip is pretty good. It can take 10-15 days now just for a DBP shipmenty from Gerrmany. Â I also had a 10 day turnaround of a lens (280mm f/4) that I needed for Corsica last year and it was in my hands the day before I left. And that needed a part from Solms! Â So, maybe a few more can 'pile on' with the good stories. Â Regards
xrogers Posted March 27, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 27, 2007 I've also had nothing but good experiences with Leica NJ repairs. Â My first good experience was sending my M8 in and having it back in five weeks. Sure, I'd love to have those European turnarounds, but given inevitable shipping delays, this was an excellent performance from both Solms and NJ. Â The second was on lens coding. I sent in four lenses for coding, and got two back in about three weeks (the other two were waiting for the mounts). I called Leica and told them I needed the lenses by a particular date whether coded or not, and Leica had them back to me (uncoded) two days before that date, without prompting. Very professional. Â When I spoke to Leica NJ on the phone, they clearly knew what I wanted, remembered my case without prompting, and did all they could to service my needs without excuses. I just got my Digilux 2 back yesterday after sending it in on 4 Jan for a sensor and a peeling cover. I understand that they're a bit backed up and I didn't need the camera so no problem. Received a spare battery along with the camera which was a nice bonus.
scjohn Posted March 27, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted March 27, 2007 Well, my M8 was gone for 11 weeks but its back now and the NJ team was always great. Every call I placed resulted in a return call. Only last week I decided to change my 30% lens order from a 28 2.0 to the Noctilux. (I figured that with the Nocti price increase it was now or never.) After one phone call I got a call three days later confirming that my order has been changed. Â I think part of my earlier frustration stemmed from the fact that I didn't know how good the service is. I never would have thought to just pick up a phone and call Nikon! stuny Posted March 27, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted March 27, 2007 I already reported my always having good service from leica NJ. The last was the sensor replacement in my D2. They told me 5 to 6 weeks and it was in my hands with a new extra battery in 5 1/2 weeks.
