I used to live on the island of Martha's Vineyard, and still hang out there when I can. For several years, I commuted to work on the mainland of Cape Cod by ferry, often on the longest running of the fleet, called the Islander. Last week, it was retired, replaced by a bigger, fancier ship. The Vineyard is a place of great tradition and resistance to change, and many mourned the loss of this old friend. This weekend I traveled back and forth from Long Island. It means taking 2 ferries, one from Orient Point NY to New London Ct., then I took the new "Island Home" that replaced the "Islander" to the Vineyard and back. When I arrived at New London this evening to return home, who did I see? My old friend the "Islander" docked there on the way to heaven. I shot like mad, but this was the best. 75 lux @ f2, Iso 1250, 1/20 seconds, no tripod but a rail to lean on, shot from the New London boat. This image was not processed at all, for one to show what the amazing M8/lens did on their own, and, because it really doesn't need it. Just opened and saved via ACR, resized, and posted. Best....Peter
