marknorton Posted February 11, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted February 11, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone bought an adapter to allow M42 screw thread lenses to be used on an M, either one of the cheap and cheerful ones from eBay or a specific make like Novoflex? Â If so, do they press in the pin to stop down the lens as the lens is screwed in?

TomB_tx Posted February 11, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted February 11, 2013 I haven't seen these adapters, but most M42 lenses (Takumar) have an A/M switch to stop the lens down. I use them on a Pentax K-mount dSLR this way.
Alan Philpotts Posted February 11, 2013 Share #3  Posted February 11, 2013 Mark  I don't have the Novoflex LEM/CO adapter, but their M42 to M4/3 adapter does depress the Pentax stop-down pin. It also releases the Auto/Manual lock found on SMC screw thread Takumars. I should think that the LEM/CO is similar.  The original Pentax B-ring (m42 to LTM) does the same, but it is designed for bellows and does not give infinity focus without an extension tube.  I also have an M42 to M-mount adapter from eBay. It depresses stop down pin and releases the SMC Auto/Manual lock. However, I needed to do a little filing to clear the aperture cam on an SMC screw Takumar. The Novoflex adapter did not require this.  Best regards Alan
