ibogost Posted March 26, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) A jellyfish at the Tennesee Aquarium. A good argument for high ISO (1250) on the M8. Untouched in post.

dan_drabek Posted March 26, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 26, 2007 I've had some experience shooting these aquarium jellies, and it's not easy. Good job. DD

mitchell Posted March 26, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 26, 2007 Nice shot. I like it. I am confused. I thought high noise was pretty much automatic at 1250 especially with a black background such as in your shot. When I shoot anything underexposed of specklely. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, MItchell
ibogost Posted March 26, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted March 26, 2007 I am confused. I thought high noise was pretty much automatic at 1250 especially with a black background such as in your shot. When I shoot anything underexposed of specklely. One factor was probably the lighting in the room, which was very blue. As you may know, the blue channel is noisier, so photos under higher red light overcompensate in the blue and push exposure there very hard, resulting in more overall noise. So, the noise situation can be mitigated by adding or changing light, which is not always an option, but sometimes it is.
