andyedward Posted January 23, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted January 23, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an elmarit-r 100/2,8 that I want to use again, but it has one large chunk of dust which shows up on images, becoming more noticeable when stopped down. Can anyone please suggest a UK-based (preferably) specialist who can remove it? Â I know that small dust particles have no impact on image quality, but this large one does! I have switched to film and will be doing my own enlargements, so dust removal in lightroom, etc. isn't an option.

earleygallery Posted January 23, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted January 23, 2013 Hi, any of the usual Leica repairers (there is a sticky thread with links on the forum) can clean/service a lens, or take it into your local Leica dealer, who probably uses some local camera repairer. robsteve Posted January 24, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted January 24, 2013 Typically and Leica lens that has the APO or ASPH designation goes back to Solms. An independent may look at it, but you should check with them first in case all they do is ship it to Leica.
andyedward Posted January 25, 2013 Author Share #5 Â Posted January 25, 2013 Before I started this post, I hadnt looked at the lens for a few months, but now I cannot see the large chunk of dust that was previously problematic. This is a mystery, but perhaps my eyesight is failing, or my standards have slipped! My only problem now is with re-installing the R bayonet.... nobbylon Posted January 25, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted January 25, 2013 It could be a flek of paint floating around in there. Malcolm Taylor is probably best for lenses. I don't think Peter at CRR does lenses but worth an ask if you decide to send it in when the flek turns up again!
