michali Posted January 5, 2013 Share #1  Posted January 5, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) M9u & C/V21mm f1.8 ASPH  For some time now I've been toying with the idea of a fast 21mm. Based on the fact that it's not a focal length that I often use and given the small fortune I have already invested in Leica glass, I've been very reluctant to lay out $6, 500.00 for the Leica 21mm Summilux.  Two days ago my dealer called to say he had received the new Voigtlander 21mm f1.8. He suggested that he send me one to try out on the basis that if I'm not happy he'll take it back and refund me. €1,029.00 (approx. $1, 330.00) later, it arrived this morning as I was about to go out for a walk.  Here are some random snaps. While this is in no way a conclusive test, I must say the initial results are encouraging. Am off to Paris tomorrow for a couple of days and will give the lens a good go, especially in how it handles distortion.  I manually coded it as a 21mm f2.8 ASPH- no red corners.  BYTW build quality seems great as well, smooth focus & aperture ring clicks very nicely into place.  The lens is on the large side- seen next to a 50mm Summilux on the MM.  Welcome, dear visitor!
