I have a brand new, just arrived from Germany, E49 UV/IR filter that I would like to trade for a E60 UV/IR Filter.

I changed my mind about which lense to get with my discount and I was unable to change my order for the free filters to accomodate the Noctilux I am getting.

Would love to hear from anyone who whould like to trade!

Do you have the same size issues?

On the filters? Yes. I had tried to change my order with Leica on these back in late January or very early February, and they said the could not make the change for me. (Not really sure if that was "could" or "would", but the result was the same :( )

When all of this filter hoopla sprang up again in February, there was talk about trying to create some sort of "exchange forum" to help redistribute things to folks getting filters that they might not need, and not being able to get ones that they do need. At that time, I put in a call to exchange an E49 for an E60. Then the price change came on the Noctilux, and folks started to order one with their discount. Also in this boat was the announcement of the discontinuation of the 75 Lux. Both the Nocti and the 75 Lux need the 60mm filter size, so there appear to be a lot more folks now trying to get the E60 than originally ordered.

There appears to be NO 60 mm lenses in the USA at least B+W 486 & from what I was told by Tony Rose & none expected till late April ! Therefore you may not find many takers on your trade. Good Luck!

Francisco,

This is what I have also found through various inquiries. Not as big a deal for me at the moment, as I will use the Noctilux without a filter for more creative B/W shooting wide open and such, and use my CV 50/1.5 Nokton for stuff above f2 or so in color, since I have a filter for it. For folks not having that sort of option, or for folks with the 75/1.4, that is a tougher road. Without placing any blame anywhere, this is another set of circumstances that are going to continue frustrating some folks. Require filters, then drive up demand on a size that there may not have been much demand on earlier by making the 75/1.4 and Noctilux more "desirable" through the discount program, and you have another "perfect storm" with folks trying to get something that has very limited availability.

I really liked an earlier suggestion....all new coded Leica lenses should ship with a UV/IR filter, and the option to return that filter to Leica, if you were purchasing for a film camera or something. That would not abate the used lens and older lens market, but it might take a bit of pressure off for those buying a new lens that they might not have planed to get 2 free filters for from Leica.

Ah...hindsight is such wonderful vision....

I got a 60 BW for use on either my Noctilux or 75/1.4. Whats different about diameter60?

It's bigger :) It may just be that Leica decided to have the manufacture of the 39mm, 46mm and 49mm filters done first, since there is likely a higher demand for those. I have seen pictures of Noctiluxes with filters on, but I have yet to hear of anyone getting a 60mm IR filter from Leica.
