Â Â I have the 100 APO Macro R lens E60 #3414xxx, not ROM. I have just received the 100 1:1 adapter #14262 (the part number is not written on it). It has markings of: 100 in orange and Leitz Wetzlar Germany in white.The f stops in green range from 4 to 22. Â I cannot get this adapter and lens to mate up and lock in place. What might I be doing wrong? Â I have a similar type of adapter #14198 for my 60 macro and when I sent both lens and adapter to f22 and they mate up just fine. Â Just looked on Leica Wiki and now believe was sent the wrong adapter, i.e., the adapter I have is for the 100/4.0. Â Well, I also got the #14256 and it works on my 100/2.8 Macro. It is not easy to find on the Market and is not cheap, however, according Leica it is prefered for best sharpness in the range 1:2 to 1:1. Â Yes, the instruction booklet for the 100/2.8 says that "The APO-EXTENDER-R 2x is especially suited for use with the APO-MACRO-ELMARIT-R 100mm 2.8" (usual caveat about mounting the Extender on the camera first). Also says that the 1.4x Extender must not be used.  Advantage with the Elpro is that you are not loosing extra f-stops.  Nothing is impossible, The 1.4x Apo-Extender can be used with a macro adapter in between, if you like add the 2xApo-Extender. than you have a 280mm Macrolens. However then it will get considerably darker looking through the prismfinder.  Dont forget the automatic bellow from Novoflex. Using the lens with the extender in a non-macro context (as an effective 200/5.6 tele) is of course another matter. (I've no experience of this since I would use my 180/2.8 in this role.) Â I see my setup basically to get a larger distance to the object in macro mode, stopped down and with remote TTL flash on R8/DMR. For normal distances I have the Apo 3.4x180 which is supposed to be not high performer for short distances.
