Raoul Posted March 22, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) how does this lens work with an M8 - any experiences? Does it bring up the right frame-lines? Thank you for any hints... Greetings from Switzerland Raoul
Advertisement Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Hi Raoul, Take a look here Voigtländer Color-Heliar 2.5-75mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted March 22, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 22, 2007 Hi Raoul, yes it works with the M8, but because it's a leica screw mount lens it has to be used with a screw to M adaptor. If you buy a 50/75mm adaptor it will bring up the correct frame lines.
Ecaton Posted March 22, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 22, 2007 how does this lens work with an M8 - any experiences? Does it bring up the right frame-lines? Thank you for any hints... Greetings from Switzerland Raoul Raoul, With the 50/75 adapter, which is quite pricey compared to the bargain lens' price, it works fine. As far as performance is concerned, you may also have a look at "www.photozone.de/2Equipment/reviews/voigt75_25.htm". Martin
Raoul Posted March 22, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted March 22, 2007 Thank you for your answers - I could buy one with an adapter ring: "Voigtländer Color-Heliar 2.5/75mm M39 screw mount and M bayonet adapterring" I guess it is the right one? stunsworth Posted March 22, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 22, 2007 Raoul, if the adaptor has 50/75 stamped on it then it's the correct adaptor. My screen at work is so bad I can't see that in the image you've posted. Any screw to M adaptor will ok, but you want this one to bring up the correct frame lines. krimple Posted March 22, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 22, 2007 I've been very happy with mine. I do think the 1.25 magnifier makes sense here, and as I'm trying to make the 15 CV, a 35 1.7 and the 75 2.5 my kit, it might make sense for me to pick one up and leave it on the camera permenantly. Anyone else with experience on that score? Here's a somewhat large picture of Miles in the snow with the sun backlighting him a bit. stunsworth Posted March 22, 2007 Share #7 Posted March 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an adaptor on all of my Voiglander lenses as I have a mix of Leica and Voiglander and want to be able to change lenses quickly. The problem with having a single adaptor is that it may not bring up the correct frame lines all the time. For example if you have the correct adaptor for a 75mm lens then you'll be using the wrong adaptor for a 35mm lens - assuming you want the correct framelines to be dispalyed in the viewfinder. sisoje Posted March 22, 2007 Share #8 Posted March 22, 2007 I love mine! I have it along Tele Elmarit 90/2.8, and as far as teles for my M8 I am done. Small, sharp and solid. No, it does not have the "Leitz Mystique" but, for a few hundred $$ it's a lot of lens.... Here are a couple of samples: Welcome, dear visitor! Venkman Posted March 22, 2007 Share #9 Posted March 22, 2007 I have a CV15 since last week and ordered a Color Heliar 2,5/75 and a classic 2,5/35 yesterday. I would not even think about not ordering one adapter per lens, as it takes way too much time to unscrew/screw. You'd need at least two different versions because of the difference (35 and 50/75) - it won't matter for the CV15 tho, since that's a different story on how to shoot it. Those lenses are great value for money - even with an adapter for every lense, they're still a bargain.
carstenw Posted March 22, 2007 Share #10 Posted March 22, 2007 That adapter ring looks like it says 28 90 on it, meaning it would bring up the wrong framelines. You may want to contact the seller about that, either reducing the price, or leaving the adapter out, or replacing it with the correct one.
sean_reid Posted March 22, 2007 Share #11 Posted March 22, 2007 I would recommend staying with higher quality adapters (Leitz, Leica, Voigtlander, etc.) because an adapter that isn't quite built to spec. could cause focus to be off, etc. I'm testing the 75/2.5 right now and it is an excellent lens. Cheers,

You may want to contact the seller about that, either reducing the price, or leaving the adapter out, or replacing it with the correct one. I have 2 extra 50/75 Voigtlander adapters (original) that came with my lenses (same story, seller had them on the lenses- wrong type) and I would gladly exchange it for 28/90 Voightlander adapters... If this is possible, let me know.

stunsworth Posted March 22, 2007 Share #14 Posted March 22, 2007 Yes, it'll focus like any other rangefinder coupled lens.
Eikonphoto Posted March 22, 2007 Share #15 Posted March 22, 2007 I just picked up this lens on ebay this morning with the right adaptor for 300.00 I am quite pleased.
Venkman Posted March 22, 2007 Share #16 Posted March 22, 2007 Geez Karen, you're fast - maybe too fast for the others here who usualy decide such matters in weeks of discussion (unless Guy, who just buys everything that he can his hands on).
Raoul Posted March 22, 2007 Author Share #17 Posted March 22, 2007 Would this mean that all Voigtlander lenses that correspond to Leica lenses (28,35,50,75,90) with an M-Adapter can be focussed via the rangefinder?
cbretteville Posted March 22, 2007 Share #18 Posted March 22, 2007 The 12, 15 and 25mm aren't coupled. The rest are. Here is the ultimate refference chart for the Voigtländer lenses. Dirk Yep,seemed like a pretty clear decision. Gotta get those tools in the bag. I am in wedding season now, so after this Friday I am just a work a bee until November. I don't know how much M8 will be integrated into the season, but I would like to have it be part of the kit.
