wildlightphoto Posted February 10, 2013 Share #21 Â Posted February 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) For myself, I would find a rotating collar useful for my 100mm f2,8 Macro Apo Elmarit, 180mm f3.4 Apo Telyt, 80-200mm f4 Vario Elmar, 70-210 f4 Vario Elmar, and possibly for my 28mm f2.8 Super Angulon PC lenses. Â If a rotating collar works as smoothly as the one on the 280mm f/4 APO I'd find it very useful for my 60mm Macro-Elamrit-R, 90mm Summicron-R, 100mm APo and 180mm APO-Elmarit. Â Doug, Â I wouldn't argue with that. If I do decide to make the investment in the M240 I will probably also purchase the Really Right Stuff L Bracket and Grip when it is introduced. I would probably opt for this instead of the Leica Grips. However, if I found that I needed the features of the Leica Multfunction Grip, I might also invest in that. algrove Posted February 10, 2013 Share #23 Â Posted February 10, 2013 The RRS U grip/bracket that I use on my M9 is very useful. I am trying to figure out if RRS has something currently offered that will work on the new M. For now I just have their 6" base plate which I figure if mounted on the Multi-function grip will allow battery and SD card changes without dismounting the RRS plate. Â Trouble with that is there is no L feature at this point on mine for vertical shooting. I do notice it has 2 holes at one end, possibly for adapting an L bracket. Will have to check into that. Â I use the Leica STA-1 for rotating my Macro and 180/2.8 lenses. Wish they still made that.

They indicated that there would be an L bracket and Grip. But, they can't start the design until they are in possession of a camera body.  Rich

Those OT areas are sometimes the best parts of a thread. No, I wondered from which distance you took the shot and what parameters you used?  Until I get my M I would take those shots either with Visoflex and Bellows or an old 50 mm macro setup on the M9 or use Leica/Leitz lenses on a NEX or OMD.  Also with adapter rings one can get pretty close.  Thanks. algrove Posted March 28, 2013 Share #29  Posted March 28, 2013 I also have the appropriate rotating Novoflex collar:  Novoflex TRIPOD MOUNT FOR MFT ADAPTERS ASTAT-MFT B&H Photo Video  The rotating collar allows rotating the camera and lens around in all orientations. But, the incorporated Arca Swiss Type QR plate will not work with the Really Right Stuff QR clamps. The plate for the Novoflex is too narrow. It will work with all of my screw type clamps that I have from Kirk Enterprises, ProMediaGear, and Markins as well as some much older Really Right Stuff, (and I believe older Wimberley clamp- this one I have not checked, but it should work).  This is the Leica R lens to M adapter from Novoflex:  Novoflex Lens Adapter Leica-R to Leica-M Body LEM/LER B&H Photo  I am not sure if the lens Novoflex rotating collar that I have will fit the Novoflex Leica R lens to M adapter.  Rich  Rich-Could you kindly indicate the part number of your Novoflex rotating collar? I will get one to try on my Novoflex LEM/LER adapter. Thanks.
algrove Posted September 9, 2013 Share #30 Â Posted September 9, 2013 Just so everyone here knows the LEM/LER Novoflex adapters are now shipping with 6 bit coding for bringing up the list of R lenses on the new M. I will have one tomorrow.

I will get one to try on my Novoflex LEM/LER adapter. Thanks. Â I just saw your post. I listed the part number above: ASTAT-MFT, but I do not believe that the part fits the Novoflex LEM/LER adapter. The rotating collar is for Novoflex Leica R to the M4/3 adapter and also fits the Novoflex Leica R to Fujifilm X adapter. Â Glad that you are receiving the Novoflex LEM/LER adapter tomorrow and they are now come with the 6 bit coding. Â Rich

Who needs the Leica one now. I still marvel that after 355+ days they cannot get this part out the door, but they can introduce 2 new smaller cameras without a problem during that period of time.  Sometimes I feel they are forgetting it's the M buyers who keep them going not the $700 camera buyers. George Furst Posted September 14, 2013 Share #34 Â Posted September 14, 2013 I have an older R to M adapter number 22228/500934 with Leitz Wetzler Germany and a red L.C. on the collar. So I had to send my M (typ 240) back for a display problem and I thought that they could code this adapter at the same time. They replied that they could not code the adapter as it was not made by them. I was credilus as it had all those markings on it and then they say "it is not ours"! I was shocked until I realized that it must have been out sourced by Leica to Novoflex to make this model of the L to M adapter. It is very well built and with a correct code put on with a magic marker it brings up the R menu but I was hoping for a more permanent solution and had to give up. At least the camera never gave me the dreaded "No lens Attached" message that it did with the other Novoflex adapters. When this happens 'live view' is disabled! Â If Manual shows up I then have to hit Set to bring up the R list of lenses.

Mine looks exactly like yours otherwise . Which firmware do you have? All my other lenses work with lens detection .
