Patek Calatrava Posted December 14, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted December 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I called Leica in NJ and told the operator I needed to order two small parts: a lens cap for an X1 and the screw that holds the Eveready case together. I was prepared to pay for these items. Â I got a phone call the next day from Leica saying they would send it out at no charge. A day later, an envelope arrived at my office with my two items, gratis from Leica. Now that is something to appreciate. Rather rare and magnanimous service in this day and age. symmetron Posted December 14, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted December 14, 2012 Based on my experiences since 1985, Leica in NJ has always been very responsive and helpful. Really top notch!
NikonJeff Posted December 14, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted December 14, 2012 I concur - bought an M9 charger and battery from a guy in Washington state last month. He bought both from Adorama in August of 2011 as backups, his gear was all stolen in China while on vacation so he only had the charger and battery left. Â The battery was very snug in my M9 (slight swelling from what I could see). I called Leica NJ and mailed it and the receipt in from the original purchase (disclosing that I was not the original owner) and they sent me a new battery. Â Now THAT'S above and beyond my expectations!
Messsucherkamera Posted December 14, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted December 14, 2012 I have had good experiences with Leica NJ the two times I have had to send in lenses for service. It's encouraging to hear that the folks in NJ are upholding the reputation that they have established.
Digitom Posted December 22, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted December 22, 2012 Nice to read your positive experiences. I had some similar experience with CS in Solms, Germany (I mentioned this some years ago in the german forum). Short time before I was going on a vacation trip to east asia I wanted to buy a 2nd new battery for my Digilux 2. But my seller had no more Leica and Panasonic batteries in stock. I looked at ebay and found some "nonames" very cheap. But I was sceptic, so I asked (think it was via email) Leica which other brands they recommend. 2-3 days later I found an envelope in my postbox - inside a new battery and a little card "with friendly recommendation from Leica Customer Service - have a nice trip". Great!
Tietje Posted December 24, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted December 24, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Last March (2012) I bought a D-Lux 5 from my Leica Dealer in Dublin, it was a Saturday. The following Monday Adobe announced the arrival of Lightroom 4. Tuesday (I think or was it Wednesday) Leica announced that it was shipping licences for Lightroom 4 with all new purchases of D-Lux 5 s. Â So I emailed Solms and explained that I had only purchased the D-Lux last Saturday and what were the chances of an upgrade from Lightroom 3 to Lightroom 4. Â "No problem" I was given a new licence number and I could download anytime. Â Not much I suppose but I was impressed. Don't have to do much to make a customer happy:)
malsop Posted December 25, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted December 25, 2012 I've had nothing but the best service from Leica NJ. Â My M9-P has been in twice, once it needed a new sensor! No quibbling. It doesn't have the Vulcanite covering anymore but that is because that covering seems to be out of stock. The replacement covering is just as good in my opinion. Â They also fixed a 1969 Leitz Summicron 90mm I got from Adorama. It was supposed to be in E+ condition but on arrival the aperture was stuck at f/22. Leica NJ put it back like new and calibrated it for the M digital body at f/2.8 since the lens is known to be soft at f/2. They really do try to meet the customer's needs. Â They also put the 6-bit code on used Summicron-M 35mm ASPH and calibrated that to my M9 which was in for a problem with the Vulcanite covering at the same time. Â Things break, good service is as important as the original quality of the gear. Leica NJ does a super job.
