luigi bertolotti Posted March 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 21, 2007 Sure is worth a trip ! The Moment Camera has been published in Van Hasbroeck book, and I seem to remember that it was not made in numbers... Leitz, at that times, had a specific catalog of photo lenses, that were sold to camera manufacturers, so, various kind of folding cameras equipped with Leitz lenses are not a rarity, but a camera ALL Leitz made I think is a really rare item. lars_bergquist Posted March 27, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 27, 2007 In the early years of the last century, Leitz had outside manufacturers supply them with two types of folding plate cameras, called the Moment and the Klapp (as I seem to remember). These were simply intended as vehicles for the sale of Leitz camera lenses, and both models were short-lived. Leitz’ real business at that time was of course microscopes, and the only other cameras that Leitz offered were specialized microscope cameras, for glass plates. So the camera, while not made by Leitz, does have a Leitz Summar lens fitted, and is of course of interest to Leitz and maybe even Leica collectors. They seem to be quite rare. I have never seen one, or even a photograph of one. All pictures come from old catalogs. To judge from the focal length of the lens, the neg format must be 9 x 12 cm.
