250swb Posted December 1, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted December 1, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) After many enquiries there is now a Thumbie thumb grip available for the Leica X1 and X2! Â It keeps your hot shoe clear for mounting accessories, fits with a leather half-case, and adds very little to the overall size of the camera. Designed to give a much better grip on the body, it allows easy one handed street shooting, can't snag on straps and camera bags, and weighs next to nothing, although it is cast in top quality brass. Lee Martin Posted December 2, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted December 2, 2012 Looks like something well worth having. How does it attach ? Is there an adhesive pad, or something more mechanical ?
jlindstrom Posted December 2, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted December 2, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) There's adhesive. La vida leica has a nice little review on the M-version. Go check it out, the story has some nice photos to illustrate the most important facts. Â //J
symmetron Posted December 3, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted December 3, 2012 Saw M version, I think, for about $70. That's a lot of money for something like this. It's worth about $25 at best; maybe less.
NikonJeff Posted December 4, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted December 4, 2012 I ordered mine directly from Steve yesterday - looking forward to making my X1 functional without adding bulk to it!
NikonJeff Posted December 5, 2012 Share #10  Posted December 5, 2012 I just saw that these are available on eBay in case anyone is interested. I use one of the Thumbies on my M9 and like it as it frees up my hotshoe and doesn't bulk up the camera.  Leica x1 and X2 Thumbie Thumb Grip | eBay  Will report back when I receive mine and use it for a bit! jlindstrom Posted December 5, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted December 5, 2012 Ordered mine for both M & X2 directly from Steve. They're currently on their way to me. Â Though not directly product related, but still relevant, I'd like to bring up customer service. I got absolutely brilliant service from Steve. He responded swiftly to my inquiries and products were on their way directly after my paypal transfer. Â These days good service seems harder and harder to find and thus when it occurs, it needs to be applauded. Â Keep up the great work, Steve! NikonJeff Posted December 14, 2012 Share #16  Posted December 14, 2012 Just received my Thumbie today - not bad shipping time across the pond (12 days). I took a couple iPhone photos of it installed on my black X1 with the red stitch Gariz case and Street Strap installed.  Feels very nice in the hand! Welcome, dear visitor! jlindstrom Posted December 15, 2012 Share #17  Posted December 15, 2012 Got mine as well. Just put it on the X2. The M9 version is still waiting in the box.  Have to say it fits nicely in the hand giving that little bit of extra support & comfort. Though I think I have to use one of the extra tape pieces already.. I screwed up the first install and had to pull it off just after it was a bit sticky already. I think I managed to strech the foam core of the tape a bit and it's slightly wobly now, even though it's fully settled into place.  But that's my screw up, not the products. It's good that hamfists like me get the extra pieces of tape with it  //Juha  Sent from my iPad
