Annibale G. Posted March 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, I'm worring about distorsion. I've got the leica m lenses 35mm f/2 and once I've red that this lenses is without distorsion. I've put the camera to a straight line and with the bright line frame I can see the distorsion fenomena . Is this happen also to you? earleygallery Posted March 19, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 19, 2007 Sorry not sure what you mean - are you referring to distortion through the viewfinder? you mention brightline frame, remember you're not using an SLR!!! Or are you looking at a print you have made?

earleygallery Posted March 20, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 20, 2007 Hi, I would suggest that you upload and example so we can see what the problem is. I haven't noticed distortion from my 35 Summicron ®. Of course there will be a little but it shouldn't be of any concern.
budrichard Posted March 24, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 24, 2007 Distortion arrises in wide angle use because the film plane is not parallel to either horizontal or vertical lines that you are photographing. The inherent distortion in the lens is usually well enough controlled that it is not evident in most photographs if at all depending on the lens. I really suggest that you stop worrying and take pictures. Determine what in your pictures you don't like and then find out how to correct that. One of the reasons I use M's is that the lenses provide highly controlled distortion and sharp images so I don't have to concern myself with these issues. Even with SLR's I use no zoom lenses for this reason. -Dick
