GLAUMAX Posted November 22, 2012 Share #21 Posted November 22, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) @Infinite The shutter had 895 actuations on arrival. Have you checked how many pictures have been taken with your new camera? Do you mean they exchange M8 against a refurbished camera and not a brand new? I am interested because my M8 with a coffee stain is currently at Solms and I don't want to pay more than 2.000 € (my M8 is not under guarantee anymore) for an exchange against a refurbished camera
Advertisement Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Hi GLAUMAX, Take a look here Praise for Leica customer care with the M8.2.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
photolotse Posted November 22, 2012 Share #22 Posted November 22, 2012 @GLAUMAX The M9-P I have received is as far you can tell from the appearance and look of the body brand new. The number of shutter releases might tell you a different story. There's no visible dent or scratch, the body itself is in a mint condition. The box in which the M9-P itself has been packed had some scratches inside. The battery charger has been dead on arrival. The serial number is very low as well from my point of view..... I shall ask CC if I have received a refurbished M9-P. Best regards, Carsten
Infinite Posted November 23, 2012 Author Share #23 Posted November 23, 2012 @photoallee I'm just back from business trip and made the first picture with my M9-P. The shutter counts as received from Solms is 191 (see picture). Welcome, dear visitor! photolotse Posted November 23, 2012 Share #25 Posted November 23, 2012 That is factory mileage. @Infinite, @jaapv Thanks for your input, I'll write an eMail to CC asking for clarification if I have received a new or refurbished M9-P. However, the number of shutter releases, the low serial number, the "old" leathering which has been used till Feb. 20th 2012 and the scratches on the cardboard are indicators of having received not the newest one. jaapv Posted November 23, 2012 Share #26 Posted November 23, 2012 Shutter release # between 100 and 200 approx means a brand new camera. Yours appears to be a demo. Which I would not mind getting, as the camera will have been double-checked before sending out. (except the charger, apparently;)) And reset your image numbering. This way the camera will lock up at 679 shots. (Another indication it has been through CS for a checkup)
