jrc Posted March 19, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've never been able to track a repair in Solms using my M8's serial number. Is it because I'm using a Mac, and not Explorer 6? When I put the number in, I click on "send request" and nothing happens. I sent my M8 to NJ on March 5 and I figure it should be in Solms by now (I hope -- two weeks later.) What do you think? Find a friend with a Windows computer? Edit: I should note that this is the second trip to Solms. I wasn't able to track it the first time, either. Â JC
Advertisement Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Hi jrc, Take a look here repair tracking. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
canlogic Posted March 19, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 19, 2007 NJ took about 3 weeks to get mine to Solms. Best bet is to send a request to customer service in Germany and ask where it is. Mine showed up on their system about 5 weeks after I had sent it in.
glent Posted March 19, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 19, 2007 JC, I have a Mac at Home and a PC at work and was not able to track my repair using my Mac and Safari though I was able to using IE at work. Note that there can be a delay between when you sent it in versus when it gets logged on the Tracking system. It may be best to call Leica directly (with your serial number to hand) to get them to confirm recipt. Hope this helps.
Cindy Flood Posted March 19, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted March 19, 2007 I was able to track mine with the serial number about 2 weeks into the repair time. Last week it dropped off of the computer again. Now I get nothing when I enter the serial number. I figure that when it drops off, it is on its way back to NJ. It would be really nice if Leica implemented a better tracking scheme. My new Leica 50 f/1.4 ASPH lens had to go with the M8. I got a letter confirming that NJ had gotten my M8, but not a word about my lens. I finally called NJ a week later and varified that they had my lens (they were sent in the same box, but I had visions of my lens in the trash. ) Robert Fisk was very helpful in tracking down my lens and getting back to me. I will be very happy to finally get them both back.
losta Posted March 19, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted March 19, 2007 While Safari seems to work well with 98% of the websites I go to, I also keep Firefox on my Mac and if I have a problem with I site Firefox always seems to do the trick. http://getfirefox.com
J_Brittenson Posted March 19, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted March 19, 2007 On a related note, is it possible to ship directly to Solms for service, bypassing the clowns in NJ?
