IWC Doppel Posted November 7, 2012 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) For mouting on a wall in a frame, how big is too big ? I am thinking about too big to show pixellation at close proximity (poassibly 2 feet away) 300 ppi equates to 17" x 11", 200 ppi 25" x 17" So I am thinking 17"x22" should be okay ? Advertisement Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Hi IWC Doppel, Take a look here Realistic size for M9 prints. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jeff S Posted November 7, 2012 Share #2 Posted November 7, 2012 Read this. No problem at an even bigger size. For me, though, it's not about the 'blur' factor; it's about each image and the size that seems appropriate for it at normal viewing distance where displayed. Based on that, I prefer smaller prints in many cases, regardless of technical limits or popular trends. Jeff
algrove Posted November 9, 2012 Share #3 Posted November 9, 2012 Use 360ppi and then print 24x36". 30x40" too big for your M9 images, maybe not with Fractal Pro now Perfect Pixels allowing for up to 800% blow ups. Learned about this recently at a Photoshop class-might buy it for $100 or $200 for Pro edition. No I am not connected to them in any way. No matter what paper size I use I always leave about a 2" border around each print depending on its actual size. So the image size on 17 x 22" paper would be 15 x18". But IF 2 feet is the real number then it seems 11 x17" paper is better with an 8 x 13" image size.
AshNZ Posted November 13, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2012 I print with an M8 at 17 x 22 on an Epson 3880. Wonderful results, even very close up.
