mikebidwell Posted November 4, 2012 Share #3 Posted November 4, 2012 Hi there, back in 2010 I had a similar problem which affected to lettering om my 90mm Tele-Elmarit and I posted a thread, the link to which is shown below. In the end I resoved the problem with the help of Gravastar, one of our forum members and things have been fine since. Have a look you might find it useful. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-collectors-historica/125929-missing-white-lettering.html Best wishes Mike
don_panko Posted November 8, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 8, 2012 When the M8 was very new to the market (and very expensive) some members covered over the M8 lettering to create a stealth camera that would not attract thieves. If the scratched lettering bothers you, just cut a small piece of vinyl lettering material in flat black to cover it over. Simple and costs next to nothing. A. Cheng Posted November 8, 2012 Share #5 Posted November 8, 2012 With a toothpick you can easily peel off the white paint. The camera looks better in my opinion. I did it for my M8 and now the M9.
