charlesphoto99 Posted March 18, 2007 Share #1  Posted March 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'll finally have an M8 arriving on Tuesday (from Sean at Camera West. Anyone on a waiting list at this point is fooling themselves - M8s seem to be everywhere now).  Anyway, the last thing I want to do, or can afford, is coding my lenses. I guess this would primarily involve my 21 pre Asph, 24, 28 Summicron, and 35 Lux Asph. Don't think with my 50, 90 or 135 it will make a difference.  So what has the experience been with self coding, good or bad? I have Carsten's code page bookmarked, and have read various threads on the subject, but nothing for awhile. Is it working for people, particuarly with those wider lenses where FW 1.10 with filters is really going to make a difference (of course that's if one can find/afford said filters)?  I'm pretty handy and willing to give it a go and any tips or techniques appreciated.  Thanks, Charles  (And yes, it would be nice to have firmware entry of the lens ala my D200 - probably would have saved Leica a lot of hassle compared to the $ vs time they're spending on it - but it's also a hassle to access menu if one switches lenses a lot.)
